Hi
I’m Stephanie
I’m an ex-athlete, former teacher, professional softball coach and public servant. I’m a mother of three in a blended family. I love the performing arts and occasionally whip out a song on the guitar.
I naturally see the goodness, gifts and innate talents in others and I love bringing them altogether to help capable people be at their best so they can create lives they love.
If you are finding yourself lost, stuck and disconnected from who you “used” to be, and not sure how to navigate your way out, my story may reassure you.
Before I started my coaching business, I was a manager in the public sector, working three days a week in a job share arrangement with an 18 month old baby.
The organisation underwent an organisational restructure. The restructure created a bottleneck of work. Key support people left, including important directors and my job share partner.
I was taking home hours of work every night and felt overwhelmed and unsupported. I felt stuck and totally lost my mojo.
During this time, I was managing chronic neck and shoulder pain.
I wasn’t even able to pick my daughter up using my right arm.
Over a six-month period, I had two miscarriages, a shoulder reconstruction and painful rehabilitation.
Although I was normally positive and optimistic, I felt the heavy responsibility of keeping things going as a leader in a workplace which was undergoing transformation, and soldiering on despite my hormones and sleep patterns being in a mess from the health issues and work stress.
I felt numb, in a state of disbelief, wondering what had happened to me, not understanding how I got here.
I was diagnosed with depression, put on anti-depressants and decided to take leave while I reconsidered my life.
When you have that AHA! Moment
Have you ever had one of those moments in your life when your brain lit up with a sense of inspiration and knowing? You know, that “Aha! That’s it!” moment?
Well, I was working with an Executive Coach at this time, not knowing what the next step should be in my life and career. I knew I had to move from where I was.
I remember her asking a question (can’t remember what it was) and sitting bolt upright, proclaiming, “I think I’d be good at what you do!”. It was like a moment of inspiration which gave me that sense of possibility.
It all started with that spark of inspiration, and before I knew it, I was an accidental business owner!
Four months later I had completed my first coach training course and had started my own business.
The thing that I had loved in all my previous jobs – being a teacher, softball coach and a public sector manager – was working with people to be their best. I still love that.
I had no idea how to run a small business, but I knew I wanted to help people.
So, my purpose is to help people to sing a song in their heart so they are truly connected to themselves.
When this happens, all the world right again.
There is nothing quite like helping someone come home to themselves.
